ABOUT US
Founded and presented by Westchester Town Center Business Improvement District, Westchester Farmers’ Market is held every Sunday in the heart of downtown Westchester on 87th Street from 9-1pm. Each Sunday the market brings together some of the region’s best farmers, ranchers, specialty growers, food purveyors, artisans, as well as provides a family friendly setting with kids entertainment and live music. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for our latest updates!
COMMUNITY
Westchester Farmers' Market provides a range of programs and activities to support our local community from a robust exhibitor’s booth program to signature special events with our annual Spring and Fall Festivals to a wide array of programming and partnerships to ensure food access to those in need.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
As a community-driven food system our core mission is to build access and engagement among our neighbors, visitors, local non-profits, community organizations and local businesses by providing a vital and thriving farmers’ market each and every Sunday in Westchester’s historic downtown triangle with engaging vendors, live music, and kids entertainment. Additionally, we host a weekly exhibitor’s booth program to ensure our local non-profits and community organizations as well as local businesses have an opportunity to raise awareness and promote their services. Link here to our inquiry form to sign up and be sure to follow us on social media for upcoming additional community tie-ins from our annual Spring Festival to joining us as part of our yearly 4th of July Parade Float!
FOOD ACCESS PROGRAMMING
A central goal of our non-profit is to bridge locally grown nutrient dense produce to those in need.
Our food access programming is built upon the foundation of having the support of our state funded Calfresh EBT program which provides EBT recipients with market money to purchase direct from our farmers.
Extending these benefits we also have the good fortune to partner with Berkeley’s based Ecology Center to fully fund our Market Match program - an invaluable service that doubles EBT benefits with each market visit!
FOOD BANK SUPPORT
As part of our food access programming we look to extend the market’s reach by funding a food bank program whereby we purchase veggies direct from our farmers to donate to our local food bank.
This program is supported by donations from our community of shoppers and market sponsors (like Karen Dial of Drollinger Family Charitable Foundation, picture here, with the Executive Director Scott Tanner of Food Pantry LAX). We are currently up to 1000 pounds donated!
VENDORS
Our market is open every week rain or shine, and offers a range and the best of California grown farm-to-your-table fresh fruits, herbs and veggies!
We continue to have a growing number of local farmers, ranchers, specialty growers, food purveyors and artisans. Certified by the California Agriculture department, all growers are local to California and sell the products they grow. Additionally, our food purveyors are local and family owned. Produce varies with the seasons as do the food purveyors rotating with the trends and availabilities, but enjoy the changes with the seasons from sweet corn, peaches and cherries in the summertime to winter's bounty with persimmons, squash and gorgeous root veggies to browsing the market's nursery during planting season for the very best in vibrant potted flowers and herbs.
We also host a curated mix of arts and craft vendors along with local businesses and community organization each week. From our farmers’ market family to yours, hope you’ll be able to join us - here’s a handful of market candids:
